Sustainability is one of our central corporate values – and this also applies to Punta Skala. This is why issues such as environmental conservation, used water recycling, waste prevention, and optimised energy usage play such an important role at the resort.
We have worked with international experts to implement a comprehensive system that helps to minimise our long-term ecological footprint on the Falkensteiner holiday peninsula of Punta Skala. Choosing an ecologically sound construction method was at the core of the design process.
The sustainable water treatment plant provides the water that is required for everyday use on the holiday peninsula, and also generates energy for heating and cooling. The fully biological sewage treatment plant also ensures that we are adopting a gentle approach to the environment.
- Water pump – seawater is pumped from the sea and into the service building at a constant temperature.
- Energy production – the seawater is used to cool the hotel and apartment complex in summer, and to heat in winter. This reduces our fossil fuel requirements.
- Desalination plant – some seawater is desalinated using an osmosis system and can be reused as drinking water. Residual water is discharged back into the sea.
- Sewage treatment plant – waste water is purified in a biological treatment plant and stored with collected rainwater and rinse water from bathing facilities. The industrial water is used for flushing WCs and watering gardens.
With the exception of arrivals and departures, Punta Skala is also a car-free zone. The central underground car park has been integrated into the landscape in order to leave the area in front of the apartment block free of vehicles. At night you can leave your balcony door open and listen to the sound of the sea, and during the day you can enjoy the breeze rustling through the pine trees. And all this is possible because there is no vehicle noise at Punta Skala.
We are more than happy to arrange a fascinating and impressive guided tour
of the resort, and give you a glimpse behind the scenes of Punta Skala
. Accompanied by a professional guide, you can visit our service building, plant rooms and other areas that are normally off-limits to the public.
